World Premiere of “What Remains” in Kristiansand

Kanon Produksjon returns to its hometown Kristiansand with a brand new world premiere. The performance “What Remains”, written by André Lassemo, premieres at Qvarteret Tap Room – located in the former Christianssand Bryggeri – and will be performed May 7–9.

With this production, Kanon Produksjon moves outside the traditional theatre space and into the city itself. The piece is partly inspired by the ongoing public debate around Jens Bjørneboes plass and the areas surrounding the Kristiansand Cathedral.

Recent coverage in Fædrelandsvennen has highlighted the tensions connected to the square, which functions both as an important meeting place for people experiencing homelessness and addiction, and as a site of conflict between local businesses, vulnerable communities and political stakeholders.

What Remains explores what happens when people, public space and competing interests collide – and asks who is ultimately allowed to belong in the city. The production marks Kanon Produksjon’s 13th performance and the third time Jon Erik Myre and André Lassemo share the stage alone together.

The project has been realized with support from Kristiansand Municipality, Agder County Municipality, Bergesenstiftelsen, Fritt Ord, Fond for lyd og bilde – Scene, and Cultiva Express.
